    The Play:

Based on the novel by Antoine De Saint-Exupéry, this timeless classic contrasts the different perspectives between adults and children. It explores the perspective of innocence and the loss of that perspective when we grow older. We will portray this classic with extreme emphasis on the subtext and intricacies of the characters and the universal themes that they represent; such as: power, innocence, greed, simplicity, love, friendship, tradition, life, death, desire, loneliness etc.

The Little Prince, confused by his new friend, The Rose, leaves his tiny planet seeking answers in the vast universe. Along the way he encounters many different characters on many different types of planets before coming to the enormous planet known as Earth. It is there that he encounters a stranded aviator in the desert. They befriend each other and together they explore and try to solve the great complex questions of life, which often times, ironically, have the simplest answers.

A copy of the same-titled novella upon which this play is based may be obtained at any local bookstore or your nearest library.

    Character Descriptions for remaining roles:

Aviator (25 -40 male). A pilot who has crashed in the desert, stranded with no supplies and no communication He is a grown-up, so he has a very logical sense of reality. He is always thinking of what may lie ahead instead of focusing on what is right in front of him. Deep down, he is truly young at heart. Lead.

The Rose/Desert Flower (18--35 female) The Rose: she is the only one of her kind on The Little Prince's planet. She is elegant, beautiful and graceful. She relies solely on the Little Prince to take care of her, and often times she can be needy and manipulative. Ultimately, she loves the Little Prince but does not know how to tell him.

The Desert Flower: the exact opposite of The Rose. Her personality reflects her surroundings: dry, rough, world-weary, and lonely. Featured.

The Fox/Snake (20-35 male/female) The Fox: cunning, quick, agile and playful. This character is a wild animal and does not trust the human  race. Yet this character should be bright and upbeat.

The Snake: smooth, seductive, hypnotic. This character is _not_ a  villain. It is our natural fear of snakes that make this character a villain, not it's intentions. Nonetheless, we should feel slightly uncomfortable in this character's presence. Featured.
