    Press release May 12, 2009, Middlebrook Gardens announces: Artist of the Month Series Beginning in June, 2009, each month Middlebrook Gardens will introduce one local/regional artist who specializes in art suitable for the garden. The artist will be announced in our newsletter on the first day of the month. We'll post links to each artist's website, showcase his/her work in our newsletter, provide places to view the work, and include a bio and artist's statement. The artist's work will also be displayed at Middlebrook Gardens and will be for sale. Our goal with this series is to introduce local artists to the gardening community, provide opportunities for gardeners to learn how to create their own garden art and support the outstanding work of many regional artists. Artists to be featured in the coming months are specialists in mosaics, metal fabrication, basketry, iconic garden furniture, and living roofs. On the third Saturday of each month, the artist will conduct a materials and techniques workshop at Middlebrook Gardens Nursery from 10am-12noon. The fee for each workshop is $25.00. In the afternoon from 2-4pm, the artist will lead a tour of garden sites where his/her art can be viewed. The fee for the tour is $15.00. The combined fee is $40.00. California Native Garden Foundation members' discount fee is $35.00 for the combination. No discount for single event selection. Our first artist is Carol Braham. www.artisticcreations.us Carol will be conducting her Workshop and Tour on June 20, 2009, at Middlebrook Gardens, 76 Race St., San Jose, CA 95126. Carol specializes in stone/masonary fabrication for the garden and home. Fountains, benches, wall motifs, and embellished flatwork on entryways and other focal points in the garden are her specialties. She is also a master of pebble art.
