    Job Title: Associate Director of Development, Institutional Giving

    Category: Regular Full-Time, Year-Round, salaried with benefits

    Reports to: Development Director

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    1. Planning & Research

    2. Develop and execute multi-year strategy for reaching annual institutional contributed income goals from the corporate, foundation and government sectors (close to $1M annually)

    3. Research and rate corporate, foundation, and government prospects

    4. Maintain the grant deadline calendar

    5. Donor Cultivation/Stewardship/Solicitation

    6. Maintain excellent relationships with approximately 80 current and prospective institutional donors by determining moves management system for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship through meetings, events and personalized communications

    7. Write grant proposals, interim and final reports, cover letters, and other materials

    8. Develop customized corporate sponsorship proposals and broker sponsorship deals

    9. Ensure integrity of corporate, foundation, and government database records, and appropriate donor stewardship including benefit fulfillment and donor recognition

    10. Hold responsibility for soliciting all corporate foundation and government donors, partnering with Artistic, Managing, Development, Campaign, Education, New Works and Marketing Directors and Trustees when appropriate

    11. Hire and supervise contract grant-writer on a very limited basis

    12. Provide guidance to internal staff, Board of Trustees, Development Committee members to encourage a philanthropic spirit in communication and solicitations

    13. Serve as Case officer for select Trustees to confirm annual Trustee Action Plans and coach them to achieve their fundraising goals each season

    14. Attend donor events to build relationships with current and prospective donors

    16. Serve as staff liaison to corporate committee, and attend Board of Trustees, Department Head, Admin, Development Team and Gala meetings

    17. Adhere to TheatreWorks policies as listed in Employee Handbook

    18. Other duties as assigned:

    19. This position is a team member of the TheatreWorks staff. All staff members support TheatreWorks at large. All personnel participate, as needed and within regularly scheduled work hours, in TheatreWorks functions, on site and off.

    The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

    • At least three years of progressive fundraising experience, including demonstrated success in securing foundation and corporate grants and sponsorships and achieving income goals on budget and on schedule;

    • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;

    • A willingness to collaborate and to work well with others;

    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to track multiple, simultaneous projects;

    • Willingness to work evenings and weekends;

    • Belief in the mission of TheatreWorks and the personality and ability to inspire others to support TheatreWorks;

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and fundraising software, ideally Tessitura;

    • BA or BS degree.
