    MARKETING AND OPERATIONS INTERNSHIPS (2-3 positions available) Learn directly from the Executive Director and board of directors (backgrounds include consultants, medical, educational and non-profit professionals) to develop your business, arts and marketing knowledge and expertise at one of the acclaimed arts organizations bringing Asian American arts to Silicon Valley. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who wants to learn as well as help a great small non-profit organization. You can be a recent college graduate or someone in job transition who has a passion for the arts. You can work from home and come into the office when we have meetings or need to gather. We treat people the way we want to be treated - with respect, kindness and appreciation and we expect a lot of each other while having a great time.


    In this role you will learn and be exposed to the following: BUSINESS - Learn about non-profit business models and organization planning - Understand the dependencies and success factors to building a non-profit organization - Contribute to our fund development programs - grants, membership, etc. MARKETING - Help with publicity and promotion of season and upcoming events (this could mean posting flyers around our key neighborhoods where cool people hang out) - Help create and manage marketing event plan with board including social media - Building sponsorship programs with businesses that would benefit from communicating with our audience - Working the event- meaning that you can greet people with the smile to selling tickets to ensuring the program flows well and smoothly - Creating marketing survey, and recording results after the program - Contributing to our regular eblasts and communications OPERATIONS - Get exposed to non-profit operations, and understand comparisons to corporate operations - Event preparation from working with the artists to box office to volunteer recruitment and training PROGRAMMING - Research and recommend programming (theater, film, panel, educational programs,etc.) - Attend performances of artists that we should consider in our programming


    REQUIREMENTS - Positive, energetic, can-do, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude - Takes initiative - Passion to learn and ask questions - Passion for the arts (theater, comedy, film, literary) - Experience in working with teams with tact and diplomacy (school projects count...) - Experience with marketing and how to spread the word on Social media - Track record of successful project completion, communication, and raising your hand if you need help or run into a road block - Be present - our headquarters in located in San Jose Japantown and hold our regular meetings and events in San Jose - For the most part, you'll use your own computer for email collaborations and use word and excel documents. - BS degree or work equivalent


    LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP - 6 months, may be extended to one year COMPENSATION - This is a non-paid internship. - 5 hours min per week, 10+ hours during event preparation. Please send us your qualifications, why you're interested in this role and when you're ready to begin! Thanks!
