OKLAHOMA! was Rodger's and Hammerstein's first collaboration and in many ways, their most innovative, having set the standards and established the rules of musical theatre still being followed today. Set in Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the century, the high spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the background against which Curly, a cowboy, and Laurey, a farm girl, play out their love story. Along for the ride are the great characters of Aunt Eller, Ado Annie, and Will Parker. OKLAHOMA! brings with it some wonderfully classic songs of the theater including "People Will Say We're In Love", "Oh, What A Beautiful Mornin'", and "The Farmer and The Cowman."

As one of the producers of this show, I've had the opportunity to overhear a lot of great comments during intermission and after the shows. Some of the best: "Such a well-cast show!" "What a talented group. This is 'amateur'?! They seem professional to me." "It's so nice to be able to actually see the actors' expressions up close." "Jud [Mike Reed] has an INCREDIBLE voice." "Laurey [Carly Honfi] and Curly [Michael Pease] are perfectly cast." "Beautiful choreography" "Everyone sounds great! The harmonies on 'Oklahoma' are wonderful and the orchestra is really tight." "I wasn't really looking forward to seeing another "Oklahoma," but this one was definitely worth it." As for myself, the best thing I can say is that I've been at almost every rehearsal and performance, but I STILL love this show. Ado Annie [Jessica Lynn Carroll], Will Parker[Matt Tipton], and Aunt Eller [Ruth E. Mullins] crack me up. And I find new things to love every time. Collapse

Great local production. All in all strong performances were delivered by all the lead cast members. Curly (Michael Pease) and Laurey (Carly Honfi) had several very nice moments. One of the best Jud's I've seen play the part. Awesome smokehouse scene between Curly and Jud. Ado Annie was a hoot. Good casting. Hats off to Howard Miller (Director) and Kimberly Kay (Producer).
