Add Review/Comment"Double Visions" is entirely comprised of works for double chorus, examining luscious secular works by Brahms, Schumann, and American composer, William Hawley, as well as passionate, arresting sacred works by the Canadian, Healey Willan and Switzerland's Frank Martin. The major work on the program, Martin's "Mass for Double Choir," is considered to be one of the pillars of the 20th century a cappella repertoire and not to be missed. Rounding out the show is J.S. Bach's only motet for two choirs, the delightful "Komm, Jesu, Komm." Under the artistic direction of Sanford Dole, the Cantabile Chorale is a 70-member auditioned chorus comprised of singers from the South Bay, Peninsula, East Bay and San Francisco and has built a reputation over the years for high-quality performances and innovative programming with demanding repertoire from all periods. Chorale produces a formal concert season of three program sets performed in Palo Alto and Berkeley and San Francisco as well as guest appearances and collaborative ventures with other noteworthy Bay Area performance organizations and tours abroad.
