British stage and film legend, Michael York (The Three Musketeers, Cabaret and Austin Powers ) stars in this magnificent new production of Lerner and Loewe’s timeless masterpiece. King Arthur’s enchanted kingdom, Camelot, is a place where honor and chivalry reign. But can this idyllic land survive when Queen Guenevere falls in love with Sir Lancelot? The splendid, memorable score includes the romantic and haunting If Ever I Would Leave You, the captivating How to Handle a Woman and the majestic Camelot. Re-discover the grandeur of one of history’s greatest love stories. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this remarkable production led by the great Michael York as the celebrated King Arthur.

Just wanted to say that a friend took me to see "The Full Monty" on Tuesday and it is the most I have laughed in a long long time. It is funny, touching and poignant! I kept thinking that not only is it a really fun night out for the girls because...well there are naked men, but also a perfect date night with the hubby because it has a very touching love story underneath. That was the most I have laughed at a San Jose show! Don't miss it. Collapse

Great production of a silly show. All the production values were first class. I just wish that I could have heard the performers. I could not get one word from the Urchins(Chiffon, Ronnette, and Crystal). Super costumes designed by the fabulous Tommy Marquez and workable sets. It was nice to see the stage hands dressed in costumes rather than the usual black outfits. Maybe there is hope. Wonderful choreography by the director Gabriel Barre.Where are the San Jose people? From the credits, it certainly did not look like a local show. Collapse

I've not been very happy with the AMTSJ shows over the last few years. Admittedly I'm a harsh critic when it comes to big budget shows that don't always use the copious local talent, but this was a very well done production of a wonderful musical. You can't help but love the songs, and they don't skimp on the dance numbers or the costumes. They were having fun and doing a great job of entertaining. It's so nice to hear an orchestra that is flawless, and even from row 18 I could feel the energy. THIS is the kind of caliber show that can repair the reputation of a company almost over night. They even had the sound/mics almost entirely pitched and volumed correctly which is a huge chore for such a large venue. It's a pretty price, but it's a lovely piece. Finally! Well done AMTSJ. I saw a dress rehearsal. Already it is stunning. The performances are wonderful. I particularly enjoyed the actress playing Miss Adelaide (too bad programs weren't available, but they should be ready by opening night). I also especially enjoyed the scene in Havana, "A Bushel and a Peck", "Luck Be a Lady", and "Marry the Man Today". But really, all the songs are great. There is a reason why this musical is a classic, and AMTSJ does it justice. Collapse

This extravaganza is a feast for the eyes. The sets and costumes alone are worth the price of a ticket, but the talent is amazing. These performers can do it all...and all at the same time! The dance numbers had real choreography, not just the pseudo-dance so often seen on stage. Everyone in the small cast was strong, and kudos to both little boys, Gabriel Hoffman and Julian Hornik, who play the Dreamers (I saw both casts). It's so nice to see local theater supporting local professionals. This includes the musicians and technical staff who all did a marvelous job. This is a wonderful "feel good" holiday show for school age children to adults. AMT deserves a pat on their collective backs for bringing us this fresh new work. Congratulations to Dreamland's creators, Tim Bair, Troy Rintala, and Delores Duran-Cefalu. I'm proud to live in an area that produces this kind of artistic talent. Collapse

Over the years I have seen and/or performed in so many productions of The King and I that I was almost dreading seeing it one more time. Luckily, I did see it one more time because this production was a knockout. The acting, dancing, and singing were excellent, the sets and costumes opulent and wonderful, and I was entranced even though I knew every line and note of music by heart. Francis Jue especially was mesmerizing in his portrayal of the king, and Debbie Boone's acting was a wonderful surprise. I am so tired of seeing "big names" in shows to sell tickets who are totally outperformed by the rest of the cast. Not this time! The only letdown was the prince whose acting chops weren't up to the part, but all the other leads were outstanding. AMT proved it can produce just as fine, if not better, a show as any national tour! Collapse

Maybe I'm spoiled but here's a company that has a huge budget in comparison to tons of other groups and the city just gave them a bunch more and they put this on stage. I just didn't buy the inconsistant direction/staging generally weak acting and unimpressive "spectacle". The orchestra was amazing, true, and the "Uncle Tom" Dance was entertaining and certainly remined me of Thailand, but aside from a few decent performances (Irene Trapp in particular) I was unimpressed. No chemisty between Anna and the King, for all the rave about the sets and costumes, with the exception of one night scene I wasn't thrilled. Sure the voices were good but again, I guess I expected more for the price of the ticket. There are WAY more talented children in this valley that could have carried the larger speaking roles in my opinion. Applauding for Debbie Boon for just walking on is beyond me, and a standing ovation is embarrasing to be honest. Better luck next time. Collapse

This production has such gorgeous sets that you could watch it without sound and still enjoy it. But then you'd miss Francis Jue's delicious acting and his fantastic chemistry with Debby Boone. Boone's voice lacks strength, but her layered performance as Anna is spot-on. A real stand-out was Irene Trapp as Lady Thiang. Her comic timing is subtle and flawless, and her voice is gorgeous: lovely range and perfect control and vibrato. I wanted to hear more. Collapse
