    The Los Altos History Museum announces its 5th Annual Spring Home & Garden Tour – “Hidden Gems of Los Altos” - to occur Saturday, May 13, 2006 from 10am-4pm. Five intriguing homes, dating from 1895 to 1999 – all with a “hidden” element - a secret garden, a surprise room, or a tucked-away location, will be available to tour. Underwritten by Northern Trust Bank, tour proceeds will benefit the Los Altos History Museum. Tickets are $30-35; refreshments, a garden boutique and an optional shuttle bus are provided. (A premier evening gala is also available.) Founded by Adobe pioneer Nan Geschke in 2001 to support improved exhibits in the new history museum building, the tour has become a spring tradition - and a perfect activity for Mother’s Day weekend. Guests can choose the tour alone, or add the gala premier cocktail reception the night before, May 12, 6-8pm. Gala & Home Tour tickets are $125 per person, for the exclusive event at a historic California Classic adobe home. “The art, collections and historic home are show-stoppers,” says tour co-chair Kathy Lera. “This home is truly as beautiful as the hilltop views it commands.” Each home on Saturday's tour has something “hidden”: · Look for the “Blue Sky Café” at Cathy and Norbert Kordsmeier’s cleverly remodeled 1950s ranch home. · Go back in time to 1895 rural Los Altos and you discover the secret attic room of Kirsti and Gordon Elder’s Victorian farmhouse. · Speed forward a century and find your favorite space to hide and play in the contemporary “Victorian farmhouse” of Jeanette and Rick Loretz. · Around the corner, enjoy the secret garden of Penny and Buzz Thayer’s 1920s Mediterranean farmhouse. · Find Natalie and Mark Feathers hidden gem on Grant Road tucked behind the hedges… enjoy the refreshments and visit the Garden Boutique on their historic grounds.
