Musicians from Marlboro – touring extension of the renowned Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont – has for 40 years brought the nation, and now San Jose, exceptional young musicians from the summer festival together with seasoned artists, offering rarely-heard works and masterpieces of varied instrumentation. MFM tours, guided now by Festival Directors Richard Goode and Mitsuko Uchida, have introduced many of today’s leading artists to American audiences. Program: Hyden, String Quartet Op.64/#5, Mozart, Songs for Baritone & Piano, Brahms, Quintet in F Minor for Piano & Strings, Op.34, Faure, ‘La Bonne Chanson’ Song Cycle for Baritone, Piano & String Quartet, Op.61 (poetry: Paul Verlaine). Pre-concert talk: Roger Emanuels.
