Czech Nonet, one of Europe’s most prestigious and enduring ensembles, makes its San Jose debut! Its founding, in 1924 at Prague Conservatory, was inspired by Louis Spohr’s ‘Nonet’, and in turn, the ensemble has itself inspired 300+ new works. Their unique make-up of four strings and five winds lets them play a wide ranging literature with an ensemble’s precision, and yet sound remarkably orchestral. Program: Mozart, Divertimento #11 – “Nannerl Septet”, K.251, Robert Ward, Raleigh Divertimento , Brahms, Serenade #1 in D Major, Op.11. Pre-concert talk: Roger Emanuels.
