    In this brassy Americanization of the Pygmalion tale, junk-dealer Harry Brock, who has bought and pushed his way into the Capitol to do some major post-war profiteering, realizes that his tootsie in tow needs "couth". The bright young reporter he hires to teach her social graces unearths instead social conscience. With rapid-fire speed, colorful characterizations and rock-solid comedy-not to mention its delightful commentary on questionable practices between big business and politics­you'll think Born Yesterday was exactly that-born yesterday.
