Much of Huth’s work employs abbreviated, dreamlike faces and figures with abstract organic forms in a harmonious melding of color, rhythm, texture to express his view of the relationship of man to his environment—both physical and cultural. After a degree in Architecture from University of Pennsylvania in 1970, Gerald Huth turned from architecture to art; he traveled Europe and studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts d’Avignon, France, before returning to continue studies in New York City at Hunter College and The Art Student’s League. He’s had over 25 solo shows here and abroad. He maintains a studio and gallery in Forestville where he’s lived since moving to California some 20 years ago.
