This dazzling, heartbreaking play time-travels between two centuries, contrasting two different generations of an aristocratic family. As characters in both times try to recover the long-lost past, Stoppard’s peerless wit and wisdom conspire to tell us that there is no Arcadia, no golden past--just the fallible, mortal present. And we are all, always, headed toward the same end.

This is a wonderful play by Tennessee Williams and Diane Tasca is pitch perfect in the role of Alma as is the entire cast. The play addresses the role of women in early 20th century America and the effect that societal pressures and constraints had on women. An important perspective as we deal with the role of women in presidential politics in 2008. Collapse

This is an absolutely delightful production. The ensemble cast is excellent. Diane Tasca's adapatation relates a great tale that is expertly told through Rebecca Ennals' ingenious staging.

What a task this fantastic ensemble had and what a great job they did! Transforming from character to character seemlessly and with whimsy was a delight. They all earned their peanuts to be sure! Extra Kudos to the most creative staging I have seen in forever, the choices made we fresh and fun, both simple and complex at the same time, and were so intricately woven into the script, and all the other technical designs. Remarkable. Be rested up before seeing this play, over 2 hours of Jane Austen's words come at you like machine gun fire, and though wonderfully animated by the cast, if you are anything but alert, you will certainly miss some of the charm of the story. This years new plays were stranger than usual, which is not to say they weren't well acted, or well written, just more perculiar and less main stream. Highlights for me were scenes about an artist making dairy art and a GPS system with a major crush on her driver. There were less tears and more laughs and a whole lot of "did I get that?" this year but that being said, it's what is great about the Pear Slices, you never know what to expect, and are usually pleasantly surprised. The production of Molly Sweeney at the Pear Avenue Theatre is a warm, tender, and somewhat tragic story. The play tells the story of Molly Sweeney through monologues by three characters played superbly by Diane Tasca, Troy Johnson, and John Baldwin. Through his staging, Dean Burgi brings the play to life by having the characters relate to each other even though they never speak to each other. Irish accents are consistent and unique to each character thanks to the dialect coach Jean Naughton. A compelling story that will open your eyes to the rich world of the unsighted. Collapse
