This will be Northside’s 25th production of this holiday event. This excellent stage adaptation of the Dickens’ classic captures all the power, humor and warmth this ageless tale has to offer. This is the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a lonely miser, who, through the help of spirits and visions from his past, present and future, finds a second chance to become a loving, generous and kind human being.

Having never, EVER seen a theatrical version of A Christmas Carol, I didn't know what to expect with Northsides annual tradition. I was really surpised at how creative and dramatic it really was. The use of space and technical aspects of this play are astounding for a small venue, really creative. This production weaves music, effects, dance, and fine ensemble work into a production steeped in period tradition but full of abstract, almost Brechtian modernism. The Greek Chorus type storytelling is intriguing, and fans of Dickens will really enjoy the authentic language. Kids over 10 are probably best for this adaptation, but really a pleasant twist on what could be a commonplace phoned in production. Certainly worth a look and it sells out the small house every year so get tickets early!!! Collapse
