A musical send-up of the rise and fall of the Dot Com era, written by local writer/composer Ted Kopulos, and performed by a cast of six who all lived through the insanity that was 1998, 1999, and 2000. Not only a satirical jab at the high tech industry, but the entire Silicon Valley culture of the time. Business, entertainment, shopping, driving, housing and more!

Dot You! is a fun little night of theatre, if not terribly insightful. The show has some great numbers (the eBay song, Starbucks in Your Eyes), and some absolutely atrocious ones as well (the horrendous TiVo song and "You Want Fries With That?" come to mind). The main problem is the show is too long. Two acts and two hours is a bit much for fluff like a musical review, and several of the pieces are redundant (Larry, Larry takes WAY too much explanation, and do we really need three songs/sketches about driving?). If the author were to trim the weaker songs and get it down to an hour or so, then you would have a really fun night of satire. The performances are rather solid (except one of the women was having a lot of trouble remembering her lines the night I saw it.) Jay Steele and Tim and Barbara Reynolds absolutely steal the show with the aformentioned eBay and Starbucks songs, respectively. All in all, a good idea with major potential as a Bay Area standard. It just needs some work! Collapse

I have not yet seen this show, but I know the Director and most of the cast members - great onstage talent. I've heard a couple of the songs and they are hilarious. I'll be going this weekend. It's not often that you get a chance to see a musical at this stage of development, especially around the South Bay area! Collapse

My husband and I went to "Dot you! A Musical Jab at the Last Three Years of the 20th Century" last night. The actors (3 men and 3 women) are all highly skilled singers with many other professional performances on their resumes. The theatre is a loft theatre with cabaret style seating. Every seat is wonderful. We had a fantastic time. For those of us who lived and remember '98, '99 and 2000, it was hilarious. The acting, singing and live piano accompaniment was wonderful. "Safeway by Starlight" and "Metering Lights from Hell" were two of our favorite pieces. Jay Steele has an especially expressive face and he knows how to use it. "Dot You!" is a great comedy and will leave you feeling glad you came. Collapse

Some very funny songs, and some too corny ones as well. All in all for just $20 it's a good time!
