    Spoken word poet Gary Glazner will give a performance and sign books at Biblioteca Latinoamericana Branch Library. Gary Glazner makes his living as a poet. Harper Collins, W.W. Norton and Salon.com have published his work. He is the author of Ears on Fire: Snapshots Essays in a World of Poets published on La Alameda Press. His book chronicles a year abroad in Asia and Europe meeting poets, working on translations and writing poems. His book How to Make a Living as a Poet, was published by Soft Skull Press in March of 2005. The book features essays on creative poetry programming and interviews with leading poets, including among others Mary Karr, Naomi Shihab Nye, the Taco Shop Poets and Sherman Alexie. His latest Soft Skull book How to Make a Life as a Poet, continues this series of explorations into the place where poetry meets world. It features interviews with Kim Addonizio, Eleni Sikelianos, Marc Smith, Michelle Tea and others. Among the many topics the book focuses on is what its like to get hit in the head with a rock by an angry poetry student and “Giving Birth to Bards”, a discussion of the joys and sorrows of being a poet’s mother.
