It is the rare musical theater aficionado who doesn’t have a soft spot in his heart for this intimate show, considered by many the most charming musical ever written. Georg and Amelia are two feuding clerks in a European parfumerie in the 1930’s who secretly find solace in their anonymous romantic pen pals, little knowing that their respective correspondents are none other than each other. Funny, intelligent, honest and sentimental, She Loves Me is a warm, romantic comedy with a touch of old world elegance and nostalgia. Some of the classic songs are Ice Cream, She Loves Me and Dear Friend.

Everything has come together to make this show spectacular. Everyone can sing: everyone can act; what dancing there is, is top-notch; the sets are magnificent; the costumes are gorgeous; the orchestra is excellent. She Loves Me may not have many "blockbuster" songs, but that didn't stop this group from creating an extraordinary production that won't be eaily forgotten. Everyone associated with this show has done an outstanding job. It was an absolute pleasure to see. Collapse

Just saw She Loves Me by the Saratoga Drama Group this Friday. What a wonderful show! Great cast! Far beyond what one would expect from community theatre. A must see.

Kudos to the production staff of SDG’s SHE LOVES ME! They have assembled a stellar cast that brings this charming, romantic musical comedy to life. Of particular mention are Tim and Barbara Reynolds who, in addition to their spot on singing, also show some major acting chops here. And Dean Scott and Karen De Hart are equally as strong (and hilarious) in their supporting roles. Add to that gorgeous costumes, stunning sets, and a solid ensemble, and you have a simply wonderful production. While this is not a dance show, choreographer Brad Handshy has added some nice staging and the orchestra, under the able baton of Dan Singletary, does a great job handling a rather complex score. The direction by C Michael is brilliant…he really knows how to make his talented actors shine on stage. Overall, this one is a show not to be missed! Collapse

I saw the production last Sunday afternoon. It was the perfect experience. It is so rewarding to see a musical I had never seen. How many times can one see "Oklahoma!"? The casting was outstanding. The voices of leading players, Barbara Reynodls and husband Tim Reynolds, was as good as on the New York stage. In the supporting roles Karen DeHart and Dean Scott were pure magic. I would also like to comment on the ensemble ladies. They were all stars when they took the stage. Kudos to get designer Stephen Wathen lighting designer Kevin Cornelius and set decorator Lee Toney. No finer anywhere. The big guns, C. Michael Traw, director; Lucy Haab, producer; Brad Hanshy, Choreographer;and Dan Singletary, music director should all be so proud of this TOTAL production. It's hard to believe that in 35 years of musical theater, I've never heard the score nor seen a production of SHE LOVES ME. The Saratoga Drama Group's production was the ideal way to be introduced to this shiny little gem of a show. Well cast, well-performed, well-designed and wonderfully accompanied by a terrific orchestra (love that first violinist!). The charm of the show never wavers, and the energy of the cast is consistently high throughout the brisk evening. (It's a full-length book show, but the SDG production sails by!) SHE LOVES ME is family friendly and visually pleasing, too (great sets, costumes and lighting). Only the very rare moment reminds you it's "just" a community theater show. The cast and orchestra are having fun performing this one and it shows. Thanks for the wonderfully sweet introduction to a show that should be produced much more often! Collapse

Dear C. Michael, Congratulations on a wonderful show that was brilliantly cast and flawlessly executed. The understated choreography perfectly matched the action. The voices were beautifully blended (thanks, Mom) and the acting in the vocal numbers was so believable one hardly noticed the characters had slipped into song. The orchestra though strong, allowed everyone to be heard. Then there were the costumes, sets, lighting, and sound all of which painted a vibrant picture. It ranked up there with any professional show I’ve ever seen. I know you are proud of this one, and you should be! Sincerely, Carol Pollard Collapse
