New York City, 1922 - Based on the 1967 Oscar-winning film, this is the story of Millie, a young girl from Kansas who comes to New York in search of a new life for herself in the Roaring Twenties. Millie has a plan: to get a good job as a secretary for a very rich man and then marry him. Of course, nothing quite goes according to plan. The owner of her dingy hotel kidnaps young girls to sell to the Far East; her very rich boss is slow in proposing marriage; and the man she actually falls in love with is poor as a church mouse. Great show-stopping numbers such as "Forget About the Boy," "Only in New York," "I’m Falling in Love with Someone," fabulous charleston tap-dance routines, and hilarious kidnap sequences make Thoroughly Modern Millie a thrilling night out! I went to this wonderful revue not knowing just what to expect. It was a relaxed and fun evening of a wide variety of songs which I had never heard. The talented cast was definitely having fun and it was nice to see the actual composer onstage as the host. There was everything from silly and hysterically funny songs, to some very serious works that will hopefully be produced in their entirety. The evening moved quickly and was very entertaining. The crowd wasn't very large but they enjoyed it, too. There are some songs here you probably won't see anywhere else, so I recommend going to hear not just the songs but the great singers, too! As this is only for 2 shows (Fri & Sun), there's not much time for audience reviews. I've had the privilege of seeing the rehearsals and it promises to be a truly entertaining evening of very talented performers for Ted's wonderfully witty and often touching songs. New songs as well as favorites from the past are included. This is likely Geri's final performance before moving to the east coast - another reason to not miss this! Collapse

Admittedly I'm not a musical fan, and not a fan of this musical. The music is complex and some what repetative, but this cast hit their notes right on, much to the pleasure of audience. Fight scene could have used some work, as could have the orchestra at times, and the acting is what you would expect for a musical (a bit over the top), but the singing is really great (The men's harmony for "little bird" was awesome as was the "I'm only thinking of him" trio and quartet) the set is marvelous, and overall, though not my cup of tea, it was clear the audience was very moved. Just so you know, there is no intermission (1 hour 50 minutes), the theatre is a bit warm (bring layers), and if you can swing a seat in the center section (for these last two performances)it will certainly improve your experience. We saw this show on Sunday and were VERY impressed. We have probably seen Man of La Mancha 4 or 5 times before in our lives, and this production was by far the best one. The acting and singing were just terrific from a splendid cast. The only thing that could be improved was the sound being a little too loud (actually, I thought it was fine, but my wife thought it was loud, so I mention it because the review comes from us both!) We strongly recommend seeing it before it closes next week. It is a very special show. Collapse

Raving about the set is not the same as raving about the show. The show was enjoyable and worth 3 stars. The set was professional and worth 5 stars.

I don't know where to start praising this show. I saw it tonight and I am still buzzing with energy over it. What an experience. This two-hour musical really felt like I was on a journey with the actors, feeling everything as it happened. The singing was outstanding, and the sets and lighting a visual delight. Do yourself a favor: BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW. This production will be talked about for years to come, and you'll want to be able to say "I saw it!" Collapse

I am a Foreign exchange student that was invited to see this wonderful stage production. Of course, I had read the story of Don Quixote, but never had I imagined that it could be brought to life such as this!! I really enjoyed this American experience!! I think I am in love with Dulcinea. This actress was very stunning. As were ALL the actors! And also the set, orchestra, lighting, EVERYTHING!! I must return to my home country, but this production will live in my mind FOREVER! Thank you, Maestro Miller!! Collapse
