Mr. Bingley requests the pleasure of your company at an outdoor picnic, fete and dance. Join us for an afternoon picnic dance set in Jane Austen's England during the late 1790's - the original setting of Pride and Prejudice. Late Georgian or Regency costume, day or evening, is admired, not required, and both generic Romantic costume or modern dress is perfectly acceptable. Given the changeable nature of our English weather, we suggest hats, parasols, and wraps for the ladies and sunscreen for everyone. We suggest attending in both costume and character. Potential amusements include dancing to live music, cards (both Whist and Speculation), music, singing (including a period round, catch and glee sing-a-long), witty conversation and elegant flirtation. Guests are urged to bring a period-looking picnic lunch and plenty of beverages to sustain them through an afternoon of dancing.
