Add Review/Comment“We play the happiest music there is,” says the Penisula Banjo Band. They’ve been around for forty years and have thousands of fans in the San Francisco Bay area. Their mission is to preserve the four string banjo and the music associated with it. They offer scholarships to learn to play the four string banjo and the “gutbucket” (wash tub bass). A non-profit corporation, they have made significant contributions to local charities. Over the years, they have given over $182,000 to various charities. Recently, the Peninsula Banjo Band was honored to play their first concert at Le Petit Trianon, in downtown San Jose, taking the audience on a trip through the history of the banjo by giving bits of music and banjo history between numbers. They play songs from “Oh Susanna” to Washington Square with stops for songs from all eras, including the classic Bumble.
