Spindrift School of Performing Arts is proud to present "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" the upbeat, colorful family musical by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat tells the classic Biblical tale of Jacob and his twelve sons. Joseph, one of the youngest and most loved of Jacob’s children, falls out of favor with his jealous brothers as he interprets dreams and receives special gifts from his father. Angry and upset, Joseph’s brothers sell him as a slave to a band of passing nomads. Hoping to rid themselves of Joseph forever, the brothers instead set in motion a powerful string of events which lead to Joseph’s installation as the king of Egypt’s right hand man. An inspiring and hilarious journey brought to life by Lloyd Webber’s wide range of musical stylings, Joseph offers a story of forgiveness, love, and redemption. Don’t miss what will surely be the hottest ticket in town this Christmas!!

This production was fabulous! The Tribune review sounded a bit pollyanna-ish, but these kids deliver! From the show-stopping standards (As Long As He Needs Me, Consider Yourself, et al.) to moments had by every single member of the cast - Pauper to Gent - the show was fully realized and joyous! Kudos to the director, designers, and cast. These kids probably could have handled more challenging dance steps given their energy and obvious connection to the material, but their consistent, thoughful characters made the movement crisp and delightful. The future bodes well for this acting and directing crew whose talent and artistic values are a cut above most local performing arts schools. Collapse
