Portola Art Gallery is proud to present, “Visual Heritage,” new images of California historical sites by Redwood City artist, Julia Munger Seelos. Included in the show are paintings of Old Colonial Monterey, Alameda Victorians, California missions and the gardens and architecture of Allied Arts in Menlo Park. Seelos, a plein air oil painter, travels extensively to capture the beauty of our adobe buildings and decorated turn of the century homes. With rich, creamy paint and impressionist strokes, Seelos paints the structures in their natural environment, drawing the viewer in to experience life from the past. An award winning artist, Seelos participates in plein air events throughout the country, most notably the Carmel Art Festival, San Luis Obispo Plein Air Festival and Paint Estes Park, Colorado. With over twenty years as an Art and Design Director, Seelos now paints full time, and is the Gallery Director for the Portola Art Gallery.
