East West Connection II! An exciting night of Chinese & European and American music in a two part concert program. Firebird Youth Chinese Orchestra will open the first half of this program with 50 young performers on Chinese instruments representing the East. FYCO conducted by Gordon Lee plays outstanding, exciting original chinese music you will be astounded by. Then, Topaz, the world class ensemble of French harpist Isabelle Courret and renowned violist Mimi Dye, team up and perform lush inspired classical favorites and beautiful tango jazz in the second half. And as an extra bonus you will be treated to the world premiere of a new composition by Mimi Dye enititled Namaste with famous performer chinese di-zi flutist Ding Jian. This will be a very exciting special event featuring a festive reception & art exhibit of silk paintings by bay area artist Ellen Brook plus a chance to meet the musicians and artist.
