Add Review/CommentMozart: Divertimento in D for Strings Mendelssohn: String Symphony No. 10 Elgar: Introduction and Allegro Vaughn Williams: Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis Britten: Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings A variety of works for string orchestra, ranging from Mozart's light-hearted Divertimento to Vaughn Williams' hauntingly beautiful Fantasia. Mendelssohn, the most precocious of all composers, wrote the one-movement String Symphony when he was in his early teens. Elgar's Introduction and Allegro pairs a string quartet with the string orchestra in concerto grosso style, and Britten uses six widely contrasting poems to form the body of this emotional work.
