Liszt's dramatic First Piano Concerto was premiered by Liszt himself in 1855, Berlioz conducting. Although the work has always been an audience favorite, this will be the first time it has been performed by the Fremont Symphony. Our 17-year old soloist, Bethany Wang, tied for first place in the 2006 Young Artist Piano Competition. Wagner called Beethoven's Seventh Symphony the "apotheosis of the dance." The entire work emphasizes rhythm, and the finale is an outburst of demoniac energy.
