For more than 30 years, the Fremont Symphony Orchestra has presented free annual Children's Concerts, providing an opportunity for several thousand school-age children in our community to hear live symphonic music. These concerts have been produced for the Fremont, Milpitas, Newark, New Haven and Pleasanton school districts. The concerts include a guest appearance by one of our Young Artist Competition winners. Students are able to witness one of their peers performing with a professional orchestra. A unique feature of the Fremont concerts is the performance of several original student compositions, orchestrated by composer and violinist Mark Volkert. Winners of the Young Composers Competition have the thrill of hearing their own melodies played by the full symphony orchestra.
