    Light seems to emanate from the paper as if we were viewing the subject under full sun in the work of pastel and watercolor artist, Claire Schroeven Verbiest. Her images are those of the ordinary, even picturesque, made extraordinary through her skillful use of intense color, dramatic light, and strong composition. Her work is known for her lively, crisp, and truthful depictions of people, landscapes, flowers and objects and for her distinctive use of color. A reception to meet the artist will be held Friday, May 11, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
