Gilbert Draper sees more than beauty in what he discovers when he looks down into the water, finding metaphoric meaning in the movement and forms of the shoreline. "Along the shoreline there is mystery, passion, emotions and a celebration of color and textures to which I resonate. In kelp and seaweed shapes, I find textures and colors to be powerful expressions of my inner self. The strength of ocean waves crashing against the rocks and shoreline reflect the raw and unbridled feelings that emerge with each striking crescendo. With my camera, I record these feelings to reveal the beauty and power of nature. The images transcend their subject matter and in the process of capturing the moment, I too am transformed”. Draper, a former musician and retired owner of Draper’s Music in Palo Alto for 39 years, says of his photos,”sharing these images with others is my newest and greatest pleasure”.
