The Tempest is the last and the finest of Shakespeare's great comic romances. The play chronicles the life of Prospero who was supplanted from dukedom in Milan and stranded on a deserted island 12 years earlier by an ambitious brother. Prospero is powerful in the art of sorcery and quickly learns how to use the spirits of the enchanted island to make a comfortable life. But everything is about to change with a powerful storm and the arrival of a ship full of villans, lovers and fools. Directed by Dinna Myers, SSTC's Tempest will be set against the lush backdrop of the beautiful polynesian islands and will be rich with authentic music, costume, and dance. We invite you to come and enjoy the magic of the isles! Aloha. Seating: Seating is provided, but there is room for blankets and low-backed chairs. Come early to get the best seats. Clothing and Food: Theatergoers are encouraged to dress in layers, as it gets cool in the evening. Families are welcome, as are picnics. Snacks, wine, and beverages both hot and cold will be available at the concessions stand. Donations: Hats and baskets are passed around at the end of performances.
