Follow a passionate baseball fan's heartfelt swinging journey to the boundaries of his soul. Given a devilish chance to help his team win the pennant, he faces his toughest choice. A home-run hit on Broadway, the musical won 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and boasts a clever book and rousing score. It's sure to delight with songs like Heart, Whatever Lola Wants and Two Lost Souls. A pennant winner if there ever was one! Lots of major baseball league laughs and splendid entertainment for all ages. This musical is based on a novel by Douglass Wallop, The Year The Yankees Lost The Pennant and opened on Broadway in 1955, starring Gwen Verdon, Ray Walston and Jean Stapleton. Several touring companies have since presented it all across the country with the latest on the West Coast with comedian, Jerry Lewis, in the role of the Devil. In 1958, the film version also starred Gwen Verdon.

WVLO's production of "Damn Yankees" is very enjoyable & definitely worth seeing! Erica Abramson-Wyman as "Lola" is worth the price of admission! She was sexy, conniving & tender, has a terrific voice & can dance up a storm - the fact that she has non-stop legs doesn't hurt. Joe Kinyon has a beautiful baritone voice & played "Joe Hardy" as both an old & young man. His rendition of "Good-bye Old Girl" was very touching. George Mauro was funny & delightfully evil as the Devil. Diane Milo has a wonderful voice. You felt that she really loved Joe & had faith that her Joe would return. I really enjoyed Kristen Brownstone as "Gloria". The unusual casting of Kathy Burch as "Coach Van Buren" & Steve Anthony (is wig & full drag) as "Doris" resulted in very funny moments! Linda McKee as "Sister" was hilarious! The ensemble is very talented & obviously having a lot of fun. "Heart" was very uplifting! The choreography was inventive; the orchestra excellent. Go see it! You'll have lots of fun! Collapse

WVLO has done a fine job bringing this tuneful favorite to life. Very talented cast, skilled orchestra (that was well-balanced with the singers) and some fun directorial twists from Director Leslie Hardy Tamel. The ensemble is particularly strong, all creating their characters and making every scene come alive. There are also many stand-out performers like Erica Wyman (Lola), Kathy Burch (Van Buren), Linda McKee (Sister) and Kristin Brownstone (Gloria). Put this one on your calendar and don't miss this fun production! Collapse
