    Great script, great cast, great director! From the moment I entered the theater, I was transported into the world of the play, with the blare of band marches and the dimly lit stage, edged with barbed wire and multi-level platforms representing various military settings. From the moment the play began I was riveted, right 'til the end. Humorous, heart- breaking and inspiring. Most inspiring, aside from the script, is the cast of fine actors: standouts include Nichole Hamilton as Joanne Galloway, Thomas Gorrebeeck as a buoyant yet troubled Dan Kaffee and Michael J. West as an unforgettable antagonist, Colonel Nathan R. Jessup (who, btw, wrote a very moving dedication in his program bio). This production comes timely, passionately and effectively. I have to ask Kit Wilder how he was able to assemble so much good talent for such "A Few Good Men." Collapse

I think all of the actors did a great job and it was some interesting blocking (given that it is in a semi-round theater). They did a fantastic job with the flashbacks, making it very clear (without the assistance of a fuzzy lens) what was happening now and in the past. Collapse

    Very seldom in our South Bay theatre community do we see a play with such professionalism. Kudos ... they owned their interpretation/draminzation! Characterization & staging was impeccable. Their hard work shows through the cast as they have bonded to bring us great entertainment. Nothing distracted from the acting or content. BTW... one should not compare plays to musicals, total different genres. I myself prefer musicals, so this review is genuine. Go see a professional show for a community theatre price. Collapse

    Broadway West's production was FAR SUPERIOR. If you want to see what REAL theater is about take a short walk (drive) to Saratoga and see MAN OF LA MANCHA. Now THAT is REAL theater.

    So kudos for City lights for choosing this play. It certainly was a smart move on many levels. I was not impressed though by the production. I found many things to be horribly distracting. Although their was a Marine Consultant on the set for rehersals, whether through the direction, or the inacuracy of the writing, I felt there were some moments so difficult to buy into give the lack of attention to military protocol, rank, and the fact that we see a salute once in the entire show. The cheesy law & order sound accents every single scence change were laughable and undermined any building tension instead of emphasizing it. It's too bad because in general the acting was good, lights, set and costuming solid, and it's a story that should have been more compelling than I felt it was. Worth seeing, as I think the majority of the audience liked it more than I did, but disappointing that a few choices really kind of spoiled it for me. Collapse

    I can't believe someone would make a mockery out of this brilliant production by the previous post! Perfect acting, perfect direction and an inspired set made this a terrific evening of entertaining theatre with laughter, tears, and edge of your seat thrilling moments. This is an extremely difficult play and the outstanding performances of ALL involved made it look easy...even on preview night! A must see and worth every minute and penny! One of the best shows I've seen a City Lights. Kit Wilder does it again, keeping his stage pictures moving and the acting compelling...top-notch...see it before you realize you missed it!! Collapse

    This was such a great play. It had me at the edge of my seat from start to finish. The story was gripping. The set was awesome. The actors were all spectacular. The three Id like to specifically mention are Nichole Hamilton who gave us a very stern but empathetic character, Tommy Gorrebeeck who was the best darn Maverick Ive ever seen and Micheal West whose portrayal was chilling. Kit Wilder did a great job with this play but Ive got a couple questions about some of the choices he made. First why diddnt he depict Goose's death, Second where was the infamous motorcycle and volleyball scene, third why did he leave out the, "You got that loving feeling" musical number, And finally they are fighter pilots not Navy lawyers. Other than those few things this Play is superb and probably the best one Ive seen at Citylights. Its well worth the ticket price. If you want to see quality theatre and great all around production see Top Gun or A Few Good men as Kit chose to rename it. Collapse
