"Delusions" developed from the following statement in a book on quantum mechanics: "What you see is what you get, and nothing is real. The best you can hope for is a set of delusions that agree with one another." (John Gribbin, "In Search of Schrodinger's Cat", p. 162). "Delusions", curated by James Stanley Daugherty, features new work by Alchemy Artists James Daugherty, Arabella Decker, and Ruth Waters that deals with and visualizes the moments of delusion when reality shifts. Decker presents two large paintings that show her studio shortly after it was gutted by fire. Daugherty's photographs explore issues of identity and changing personas. Waters investigates "Portals of Perception". "Portals" is a mixed media structure, 5 feet square by 8 ft tall. The sides are made of four different see-through "curtains". The point is that from inside, the world looks different depending on which curtain you look through. Waters will also exhibit paintings. Alchemy Artists exhibit together once or twice a year after selecting a challenging theme. Previous exhibitions were "The Edge of Time", "Altered States", and "Earth, Fire, Water".
