The sublime Miss Austen's first novel dishes up incisive social satire along with a hilarious spoof of the Gothic novel (the horror fiction of its time). This witty, enchanting work comes to life onstage in a new dramatization by the Pear's Artistic Director.

"Ann from San Mateo"

This is an absolutely delightful production. The ensemble cast is excellent. Diane Tasca's adapatation relates a great tale that is expertly told through Rebecca Ennals' ingenious staging.

"Hardest Working Ensemble in Town"

What a task this fantastic ensemble had and what a great job they did! Transforming from character to character seemlessly and with whimsy was a delight. They all earned their peanuts to be sure!... Expand
What a task this fantastic ensemble had and what a great job they did! Transforming from character to character seemlessly and with whimsy was a delight. They all earned their peanuts to be sure! Extra Kudos to the most creative staging I have seen in forever, the choices made we fresh and fun, both simple and complex at the same time, and were so intricately woven into the script, and all the other technical designs. Remarkable. Be rested up before seeing this play, over 2 hours of Jane Austen's words come at you like machine gun fire, and though wonderfully animated by the cast, if you are anything but alert, you will certainly miss some of the charm of the story. "Outstanding acting and adaptation!"

I went last night with my husband, 14 year old daughter, and 12 year old son, and we all loved it. It was funny, engaging, and the acting was superb. We highly recommend this performance!
