Few events may have been as significant in changing the future of mankind. In 1941, German physicist Werner Heisenberg paid a secret visit to his Danish counterpart, Niels Bohr and his wife, Margrethe, at their home in Nazi-occupied Copenhagen. As a student and mentor in the 1920s, Heisenberg and Bohr revolutionized atomic science. Now, these two Nobel scientists are on opposite sides of a world war and pivotal players in a race to develop nuclear weaponry.

We have been going to the theatre every weekend for years, and agree, this is the worst we've ever seen. Can you say, "boorrring"? The couple on one side of us did't come back after intermission and the guy on the other side fell asleep during the second half. If it was supposed to be even slightly amusing, it wasn't. The writing is awful and the acting not much better. There is too much good local theatre to waste time and money on this dog. A 1 star review is the lowest available. This one should be a one-half star. It's too bad as this group has done some great stuff in the past. Collapse

The Palo Alto Player have brought together an extremely strong and balanced ensemble cast of characters to people the small community of Gilead. In a break out performance Sarah Griner nails the lead character of Percy; and provides the super glue which molds this production into a wonderful time spent at the theatre. Poignant and real in its dealing with those feelings which many of us keep submerged in our frantic lives in large metropolitan cities. Do yourself a favor and see this show during its brief run. Dominique Bonino as Clara is a special treat. It is hard to believe she is only 17, what a star and she sings like an angel! Diana Torres Koss is such a pleasure to watch and listen to, and Justin Taylor Nixon's voice is just to die for. Go see this production before it closes! Collapse

I attended the Sunday matinee performance of Palo Alto's show because I had never seen the musical before. The performances were for the most part excellent. I would like to spotlight Jade Shojaee in the lead role as Jo. She sings, she dances, and is a delight to watch. When she is on stage, the audience only watches her. She is certainly destined for the stars. All of the other actor/singers are also cast well and do the best with the material given them. This show is not destined to be a regional favorite, but it was pleasant to experience something new especially with such an outstanding performance from Ms. Shojaee. I just wish the production values could have been better. The sets, costumes, lighting, props, which enchance a production were sadly lackluster in comparison to the performers. Also the orchestra overpowers the cast in places. However, the performers make it work. Otherwise, this would have been a five star show. Go see it just to watch and hear Ms. Shojae. Collapse

Great cast! I was very impressed with Cliff McCormick's ability to teeter-totter back and forth between Jekyll and Hyde. This is such a difficult role to attempt, let alone knock out of the park. He fully commits himself to both roles, offering a stunning contrast between good and evil. On top of it all, he can really sing! I'm glad I got to see the show while I was in town. I recommend catching McCormick's next show - I know I will! Collapse

This is a beautiful treatment of a powerful story. Cliff McCormick's Jekyll/Hyde is very forceful but also exhibits a softness and sweetness that lends a touching quality. Melissa O'Keefe as Lucy Harris delivers her musical numbers with energy and force but still maintains "sympathy" and "tenderness". Colette Phelps' Emma Carew looks and sings like an angel without losing an underlying fierceness in defense of her tragic fiance, Dr. Jekyll. The show is briskly paced with a strong supporting cast that lends amusement and interest (pay particular attention to "Bissett the Apothecary"). The costumes and set are incredible and you won't find a better deal in town. Collapse
