Tales & Scales presents Just Beyond The Junkyard - Sold Out
Performing Arts for Youth Society
March 10, 2008
Tales & Scales ignites children's imaginations through a unique performance style called Musictelling. Musictales are stories told through music, theater, and dance. Musical instruments help each character come to life, and the Musictellers transform their bodies and instruments into the tools needed to tell the tales. Just Beyond the Junkyard tells the story of Renny Hall, a little girl with a big imagination that seems to always be getting her into trouble. She's nine years old and home is an apartment building near an inner-city junkyard where all it takes is a little resourcefulness and a vivid imagination to enter a kingdom of magical transformations. When events conspire to threaten both the junkyard and her home, Renny brings all of her creative resources and ingenuity to bear as she learns how to pair her imagination with responsibility to help those around her. City sounds and junkyard jams insure that kids and adults alike will leave with a kick in their step!

I didn't know what to think, I mean, my daughter and I don't know Sign Language but I wanted her to see the play. After seeing it... not only was it very interesting because all the characters use sign language but they voice everything too. The show was amazing. Lot's of high energy just for the kids and lots of audience interaction with the actors during the show. William Morgan sure knows his stuff and knows how to entertain children. Collapse

Loved it! As a transposed Asheville,Western North Carolinian moving to Foster City in 1971, I was homesick for the Blue Ridge Mountains' song and dance...I recognized the Square Dance steps from Asheville High School Square Dance Team some 45 years ago...Loved the energy and Side Saddle Music, especially Rocky Top...Keep explaining the ethnic influences of the region (the Geltic influence explains my husband's W.N.C. accent)...Yee haw and kudos to you all for such a fine toe tapping hand clapping slapping time! Glad I volunteered for my Granddaughter Arianna's Field Trip...Please come back and perform again... Collapse
