The spirit of crossing borders followed Astor Piazzolla throughout his whole life, and he created a synthesis between the traditional danced tango of Argentina and influences from classical music and jazz in his compositions, his so-called "Tango Nuevo". Come join us in an exploration of how the classical world came into Piazzolla's own, and the incredible influence his music had on composers as far flung as Russia and Georgia. The artists performing on this program will include prominent Bay Area Tango Bandoneonista, Seth Asarnow and versatile San Francisco Guitarist, John Imholz. They will be joined by San Antonio Symphony Associate Concertmaster, Ertan Torgul, Symphony Silicon Valley Principal Bassist, Bill Everett, and Pianist, Aileen Chanco. There will be a pre-concert talk at 7pm. Concert is to be followed by a Milonga (Tango Dance Party) co-hosted by the Bay Area Tango Society. A tango dance presentation, appetizers, and drinks included!
