The History Makers series gives a human face and voice to history, demonstrating how the events and personalities of the past are still active in our lives today, and engages audiences in a discussion of historical questions and issues. This year, the Academic Film Archive of North America will present two short films illustrating some of the challenges of adapting to a new culture. Then, Becoming American: The Immigrant Teen Experience in San José photographer Barbara Beirne will join students, teachers and members of the community for an open discussion.
