Good things come in small packages at The Main Gallery in this new show titled, “Off The Wall Small.” The show of small works is an exciting opportunity for the cooperative gallery’s artists to try something new, fresh and intimate. It’s also will provide art aficionados works that will fit into smaller spaces as well as smaller prices. “The small format makes the work itself more concentrated and powerful,” said Los Altos ceramic artist Susan Wolf, who plans to show scaled down versions of her hanging water fountains. “It’s easy to experiment on a small scale,” said Redwood City painter Elizabeth Noerdlinger, who will show colorful, abstract landscapes in oil on wood. “I feel more free to play and I like the results.” Woodside metal sculptor Tom DeHoog said he feels that creating art in “mini sizes” makes the art more collectable. “It becomes a small treasure for a close personal space,” he said. San Francisco mixed media artist Jeanine Redon will show some experimental prints in a new medium. “To me, smaller works mean more life on the walls,” she said. “It means that an artist can exhibit more works, therefore the public can get to know the artist better.” Redwood City painter Katinka Harmetz will exhibit small landscape oil paintings from a recent trip to Sonoma County. The pieces are all in antique frames. Rosemary DiNardo said the idea of intimate art will play particularly well with her still life oil paintings and especially likes the idea of making the art affordable.
