Add Review/CommentThe Department of Drama is proud to welcome Djanet Sears to Stanford, where she will direct her play Harlem Duet, a prelude to Shakespeare's Othello. Winner of Canada's highest literary honor for dramatic writing—the Governor General's Literary Award—in 1998, Harlem Duet was revived in 2006 at the Stratford Festival, North America's largest theater festival, and was the first black work to be produced in the festival's fifty-four year history, the first to be directed by a black woman (Sears), and the first with an all-black cast.
