This epic musical by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens paints a nostalgic picture and powerful portrait of life in turn of the century America. Based on E.L. Doctorow’s distinguished novel, Ragtime intertwines three distinct stories that poignantly illustrate history’s timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, and love and hate. This 1998 Tony Award winning show for best score, book and orchestrations features such show stopping songs as Wheels of a Dream, Till We Reach That Day, and Make Them Hear You.

    I have been a theatre goer for over 25 years now. I have seen every show you can think of done in every imaginable way you can think of. What a surprise and delight to watch the cast of Ragtime perform this last weekend. When I was asked to attend the performance, I must say I was hesitant. How could such a small company do something as large as Ragtime? Impossible. I thought...No way they will be able to pull off this huge production and still maintain the intimate, intertwining storyline. I was not only pleasantly surprised but fully entertained. The actors were superb. From the major roles to the smaller walk-ons. At no time did someone on stage not stay in the moment of his character and make me believe what I was seeing. The voices were strong. You could tell they loved what they were doing and wanted to do nothing but a first rate performance. Sets and costumes were some of the best I have seen. Orchestration was right on the money. Bravo to cast, crew and direction. Collapse

    I had to drag my husband to Ragtime's pre-opening because my friend was in the ensemble. Going to a community theater musical isn't his idea of fun, but by the end of the show he was as impressed and moved as I was. The production was very professional and the cast did a great job. We had a wonderful time and hardly noticed the long running time. I'm recommending it to everyone I know. Collapse

    The cast, music, and sets were all amazing! I went on opening night and the show was so polished that it seemed like closing night. When the show was finished, I was left wondering why the SDG didn't use a larger theater for this performance. They could fill any large theater in the country with this kind of high caliber performance. I am considering going again before the show ends! Collapse

    This production was amazing. I can't even begin to describe how much I enjoyed it. The music, the casting, the costumes, the sets...fantastic. I give this show a forever standing 'O'.

    I am proud to be the producer of Ragtime and want to offer kudos to the entire cast, crew & staff who have made audiences jump to their feet with standing ovations during each performance! It's a lovely show which is beautifully staged and directed. There is great heart and emotion as the story unfolds and is impeccably acted, sung and danced by each cast and ensemble member. Both the cast & orchestra present the beautiful libretto and score of this musical in the finest possible way. It is obvious by looking at the technical aspects of the show that the over 150 members of the cast and crew working on this show did so with great passion and dedication and that they are both talented and capable at what they do. It is obvious that they have spent much time to create a wonderful theatrical experience for audience members! Again kudos to all! If you have not seen Ragtime yet, buy your tickets soon as many of the performances scheduled are already sold out with waiting lists. Collapse
