For 3 weekends, Silicon Valley Open Studios connects over 370 artists with art enthusiasts and the general public in the artist's personal studio. Visitors can meet with the artists in their work spaces, converse about their work and purchase art directly from the studio. It's a wonderful opportunity to introduce children to the work of expression and parents are encouraged to bring the entire family. The variety of artworks to be seen includes handmade books, calligraphy, ceramics, collage, digital imaging, fiber, glass, jewelry, mixed media, assemblages, paintings (oil, acrylic, pastel, oil pastel, watercolor, etc.), drawings (graphite, ink, color pencil, etc.), photography, printmaking, and sculpture among others. Dates and locations: May 1-2 Southern Santa Clara County and neighboring towns along Highway 17: Campbell, Gilroy, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Morgan Hill, San Jose, San Martin, Santa Clara, Scotts Valley, and others. May 8-9 Northern Santa Clara County: Cupertino, Los Altos, Monte Sereno, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Saratoga, Stanford, Sunnyvale, and others. May 15-16 San Mateo County & Coast: Belmont, Burlingame, El Granada, Half Moon Bay, Hillsborough, Menlo Park, Montara, Pacifica, Portola Valley, Redwood City, San Carlos. and others.
