The choirs of Campbell United Methodist and Prince of Peace Lutheran Saratoga are joining forces to present The Book of Waters a collaborative work between librettist Richard Leach of Lackawaxen, PA and Curt Oliver of Brooklyn Park, MN. Also featured in the performance will be soloists from both churches, a dance ensemble choreographed by Jamie Parnum, and the Carillon Choir handbell choir of Campbell United Methodist, directed by Jim Groff.

Several overlapping themes form the basis for the text of The Book of Waters including water in the biblical story of God with his people, water in the natural world and as a societal concern, and the water of Christian baptism. This piece uses some familiar Bible stories—the creation, Noah's flood, the exodus from Egypt—and several passages less well known but powerfully relevant. It also touches on the need for human stewardship of the world's waters.
