Winner of four Tony awards and the 1996 Pulitzer Prize, Jonathan Larson's rock masterpiece tells the story of one year – five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes – in the lives of eight friends in New York's East Village who struggle with committing their lives to art and their hearts to each other. Join Mimi and Roger, Collins and Angel, Maureen and Joanne, and Mark and Benjamin on a groundbreaking musical journey through their season of love. Although this show has been specially adapted for high schools, it contains mature themes and is not recommended for small children. Directed by Brad Friedman, choreographed by Robyn Tribuzi, music by Til Tribuzi and vocal direction by Shawn Reifschneider.
Book, Music & Lyrics by Jonathan Larson. Based on the opera La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini.

"The Music is LIVE!"

SMHS always uses a live orchestra for their plays. In fact, many of the students in the PIT are in band at the school. They always put on excellent performances!

Being a RENTHEAD, I'm curious on what'll be cut out as well. I'm also wondering if the music will be live or recorded. Should be fun to see!

The theater program at San Mateo High School is more than excellent. It's worth your every penny. The student are so dedicated, it's hard to believe they're in high school. And after learning what the school edition exactly was, there are not changes except a few words that are hardly noticeable. I know I'll be watching the show more than once! Collapse

I might go see this just to watch what they cut out of it. A high school doing RENT? That will be *interesting*....
