    Metro Music in the Other Park is back for its 11th season starting June 5. Headlining the first show will be Groundation, a reggae band that mixes up its original music with tributes to Bob Marley and the Wailers.

    Dates this year: Every Thursday in June
    (June 5, June 12, June 19, June 26)

    5:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
    St. James Park
    at First and St. James streets

    These concerts, produced by the San Jose Downtown Association, are always absolutely free. You will be able to enter the Music in the Park 20th anniversary contest by stopping by the Metro Newspapers booth at Music in the Other Park.

    Food and beverages are available at the park. Be sure to visit the Lounge in the Park, which is open to the public, and enjoy sangria, beer and wine.

    This year: no smoking in the park.

    June 5: Groundation (roots reggae)
    Groundation blends elements of both jazz and dub while staying true to the sound of roots reggae. The California-based band's most recent album, "Upon the Bridge," is available on iTunes.

    Supporting artist: Firme - this local band plays reggae with a Latin twist.
