    Metro Music in the Other Park is back for its 11th season starting June 5. These concerts, produced by the San Jose Downtown Association, are always absolutely free. You will be able to enter the Music in the Park 20th anniversary contest by stopping by the Metro Newspapers booth at Music in the Other Park.

    Dates this year: Every Thursday in June
    (June 5, June 12, June 19, June 26)

    5:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
    St. James Park
    at First and St. James streets

    Food and beverages are available at the park. Be sure to visit the Lounge in the Park, which is open to the public, and enjoy sangria, beer and wine.

    This year: no smoking in the park.

    June 12: Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks (swing/jazz/folk)
    With more than 40 years of experience as a singer-songwriter, Dan Hicks has mastered the art of blending swing, jazz, folk and country music styles to create a sound that is all his own. Truly original and engaging. Be sure to catch him live at Music in the Other Park.

    Supporting artist: Samantha Stollenwerck (Cali Soul)
    Stollenwerck defines her sound as a unique blend of soulful pop rock. The San Francisco emerging artist came out of the gates in 2005 with a new album, Square One. Her performances in the Bay Area have won her a loyal fan base and earned her a slot on the KFOG local scene compilation album. The San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Magazine and Mill Valley Herald all pick her as a top Bay Area artist to watch.
