Season's Greetings

A group of family and friends gather for an old-fashioned Christmas celebration that quickly degenerates into three days of slapstick holiday angst. A sloshed cook, an epic puppet show of The Three Little Pigs, and a spectacularly botched up tryst under the Christmas tree all add to the fine sense of chaos in the Bunker household. Sophisticated and silly at the same time, this show by prolific playwright Alan Ayckbourn is guaranteed to ring your Christmas chimes!

A very looooooonnnggggggg play (90 minute first act, hour second act) with a number of laugh out loud moments, and some lovely comic performances, but not quite enough in my opinion. Most of them come in the second half, and yet it takes a strangly dark turn as well. Wonderful set, lights, sound, costumes, and the accents were more natural in most cases (though not all) than I expected. Certainly an alternative to the traditional holiday favorites that are around every years. Drunk people and crusty "old" men are indeed amusing to me in almost any situtaion and this play does have both. Collapse

I found this show to be hilarious and entertaining. Definitely a must see for the Holidays. The cast was funny, the set was festive, and the laughs kept coming. It was my first time at the Bus Barn and every seat in the house was so close to the set that you felt you were almost part of the action. Two thumbs up! Collapse

"A Fun Little Show"

Season's Greetings is a fun little show. I found the dry British humor thoroughly entertaining! I highly recommend that everyone go! It certainly put me in the holiday mood.

Local theater can be a lot of things, it’s something different for everyone. For me the Sunday perforce of Season's Greetings was a lot of fun! A truly great way to start off the holiday season. Seeing a show live and being so close to the action, I could not help but feel part of it. I also enjoyed the others in the audience. By the end of the show, we were all talking as if we had been friends for years. Good for Los Altos for keep such a great tradition alive. In this high tech world we all live in, a live show is something to be savored. Collapse

I’d like to buy a dram for whoever chose to run a December play without toy soldiers, Tiny Tim or George Bailey. The British Accents are not perfect, this is proven by the audience being able to understand the players whose dialogue is quick and joke filled. The play has no laugh track, so if the audience pays attention, and has not been huffing bonding compound, they are rewarded with a laugh filled night of fun. This play is big and boozy, just like the real Santa, and while the ending is a bit klunky, I thought it was a night well spent and worth every quid. Collapse
