This musical triumph is an inspiring celebration of fresh starts and the power of what one person can do. Things really start cookin’ in the small forgotten town of Gilead, Wisconsin the moment a young stranger arrives to work at the grill. And while the waitress may spill the gossip as she fills your coffee cup, the real treat is what’s on the menu for audiences—a down-home heaping helping of hope and good will, served with a blend of warm musical styles drawn from the heartland of American dreams.

The Palo Alto Player have brought together an extremely strong and balanced ensemble cast of characters to people the small community of Gilead. In a break out performance Sarah Griner nails the lead character of Percy; and provides the super glue which molds this production into a wonderful time spent at the theatre. Poignant and real in its dealing with those feelings which many of us keep submerged in our frantic lives in large metropolitan cities. Do yourself a favor and see this show during its brief run.
