Add Review/CommentDuring his stay in America (1892-95) Antonin Dvorak composed works whose themes were drawn from Native American and African American music. The New World Symphony and the "American” Quartet inspired homegrown composers to find a uniquely American style and sound. For this concert, the Ives Quartet continues its exploration of the incredible diversity of American concert music. Continuing its survey of the music for string quartet by Quincy Porter, the Ives will present his earliest works in the genre, written shortly after his studies with Ernst Bloch. Highlighting the concert will be the world premiere of A Fullness of Peace by Joseph Gregorio, a song cycle for baritone, guest artist Eugene Brancoveanu, and string quartet celebrating the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth.
