San Mateo County History Museum presents a one-man reenactment of Timothy Guy Phelps, as interpreted by Tom Brennan. Timothy Guy Phelps was the first president of the Southern Pacific Railroad from 1865 until 1868 when the railroad was purchased by members of The Big Four. Phelps saw the railroad build its first tracks south of San Francisco and became a prominent landowner in the area. Tom Brennan taught American History at Woodside High School and is now a docent at the History Museum and Woodside Store.

Have done this for 10 years and its a wonderful afternoon spent. The area is enclosed and safe for toddlers, and GREAT for school age kids. There are several adults in costume to help guide kids through the many Rancho activites and Crafts, most who have been doing this for years. The spirit and fun is great at this precious little jewel of a site, both historically and geographically. A great afternoon 12-4! Collapse
