In addition to making his own engravings and woodcuts, Hendrick Goltzius (Dutch, 1558-1617) also produced designs for a large circle of artists. These works on paper, in the Center's Early European Gallery, complements an upcoming show on Goltzius by presenting works by Goltzius and the artists in his immediate circle. This selection demonstrates the master's influence and the range of secular and religious subject matter popular at the time. The exhibition Hendrick Goltzius: Promised Gifts from the Kirk Long Collection opens December 17, 2008 in the Gibbons Gallery and continues through March 29, 2009.
